Intel's upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs have been in the headlines for a few weeks now, but now we have some more details on the core/thread count and boost CPU frequency of the flagship Core i9-14900K and Core i9-14900KS processors... ready for your next-gen Gaming PC.

The refreshed CPUs will offer higher core and thread counts to the mid-range 14th Gen Core "Raptor Lake Refresh" family of processors, but at the top end of the chips, there's not much here to chew on. The current-gen 13th Gen Core "Raptor Lake" flagship CPU -- the Core i9-13900K -- taps out at 24 cores and 32 threads at up to 5.8GHz, while the new Core i9-14900K will retain the same 24C/32T, but it should boost up to 6.0GHz.

However, the special edition Intel Core i9-14900KS processor -- the "S" is important there -- will reportedly boost up to a wicked-fast 6.2GHz.

What else will the 14th Gen Core "Raptor Lake Refresh" bring to your new Gaming PC? Well, we have higher clock speeds across the board, as well as support for faster DDR5 memory (up to DDR5-6400 at this point). You won't need a new motherboard either, as the new 14th Gen Core CPUs will continue to use the LGA1700 socket.

So if you purchased a mid-range Core i5-12600K a couple of years ago, you have the opportunity to upgrade to something like the Core i5-14600K, without a motherboard upgrade. You can enjoy an upgrade from 10 cores and 16 threads of the Core i5-12600K processor, to a much better 16 cores and 24 threads of Raptor Lake Refresh CPU power at higher CPU frequencies.

We will have Intel's new 14th Gen Core "Raptor Lake Refresh" CPUs inside of our Ready to Ship Gaming PCs once they drop, where the new Core i9-14900K could be the star of your new Gaming PC later this year.
