Samsung's new 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9: 7680 x 2160 at 240Hz with DisplayPort 2.1

Samsung's new 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9: 7680 x 2160 at 240Hz with DisplayPort 2.1

Samsung has just unleashed what could possibly be the very best gaming monitor ever made, with the new 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9 gaming monitor.

The new Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 gaming monitor features a super-ultra-wide 57-inch curved Mini-LED panel, with a native 7680 x 2160 resolution... meaning it's 8K wide, and 4K high, which is pure monitor insanity. All of this is driven at a super-smooth 240Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1000 nits (VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified, 420 nits typical).

The super-ultra-wide 32:9 aspect ratio is equal to having dual 32-inch 4K monitors side-by-side, so if you're playing games with native 32:9 aspect ratio support, the new Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 gaming monitor will be sublime. For multi-taskers and content creators, that insane 7680 x 2160 resolution will be absolutely beautiful, and then driven beautifully smooth at 240Hz.

Note: You won't be running the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 gaming monitor on a regular Gaming PC, as none of NVIDIA's flock of GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards offer the required DisplayPort 2.1 connectivity on this monitor, required to drive the 7680 x 2160 resolution. However, AMD's new Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs have a new DisplayPort 2.1 connector, so we'd recommend a Ready to Ship Gaming PC packing the flagship AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card.

Will you be running 7680 x 2160 at 240FPS? Probably not, at least not in many games... however, in the ones it does drive, they'll be absolutely glorious.

Samsung's new Odyssey Neo G9 gaming monitor will require an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card, that is until NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs are here which should (hopefully) feature DisplayPort 2.1 connectors. For now, our Ready to Ship Gaming PC recommendations for the new 57-inch gaming monitor and that 7680 x 2160 @ 240Hz insanity, would be:

One of the very best Ready to Ship M.O.A.B. Gaming PC configurations that would be the perfect match for the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 gaming monitor would be the configuration above. Another fantastic option for the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 gaming monitor would be the Ready to Ship Patriot configured above.
