We've been hearing more and more about the new Intel 14th Gen Core "Raptor Lake Refresh" CPUs over the last few weeks, with a new rumour suggesting that Intel will be launching the new Raptor Lake Refresh processors between October 17 and October 23... ready for your next-gen Ready to Ship Gaming PC.

Intel regularly launches its next-gen Core CPUs in October, with more details arriving the month before in September... where we should get Core-K and non-K processors split out over a few months. 

Will you need a new motherboard for Intel's new 14th Gen Core "Raptor Lake Refresh" CPUs? Nope. The new CPUs will work with existing LGA1700-based motherboards but expect a new 800 series chipset to succeed the current 700 series chipset on current-gen Intel LGA1700 motherboards. The new flagship should arrive as the Intel Core i9-14900K processor, slotting into current LGA1700 motherboards and working with a fresh BIOS update.
